Awesome IPTV uses subtitles already carried by a stream first. When the user asks for more, it can translate available subtitle text locally or through Meridian, or generate captions from audio when the device and stream permit it.
User controlled
Cloud audio and cloud text processing require separate consent and can be turned off in Settings.
Playback stays free
Native subtitles, local processing, and ordinary playback do not consume AI Hours.
Built for imperfect TV
Routing can recover from provider failures without making the viewer understand vendors or models.
Privacy before processing
Playlist credentials stay in the app's Keychain and are not sent to Meridian. Cloud captions send only the audio or subtitle text needed for the requested feature. Diagnostic records exclude raw audio, stream URLs, playlist credentials, and full caption text.
